Corrupted

This is what happens when our options become limited . . .

Omar Tyree, a New York Times and Essence magazine bestseller, an NAACP Image Award and Phyllis Wheatley Literary Prize winner, and the originator of contemporary “urban classic” novels that have spawned a national wave of so-called “urban/street literature,” hits home again with Corrupted, a timely and innovative serial ebook.

In an era where hundreds of aspiring writers play an anxious game of musical chairs to entice a shrinking group of New-York-based book editors to buy their freshly printed manuscripts and grant them their dreams of becoming nationally published authors, Vincent Biddle reigns.

Coined the man with the “golden eye”, in the past decade, Vincent, a native Bronx, New Yorker, has hand-picked, edited and positioned three dozen bestselling books from a dozen authors, while generating more than two-hundred million dollars in revenue for Williams & Klein Publishing Group.

Vincent can’t miss and can do no wrong, as he rises to a powerful senior editor position with the publisher. But as he rises, so does his ego, creating a reckless and eccentric craving for personal and professional experimentation.

Vincent asks himself, “What will these writers do to become best-sellers and remain in the public limelight?”

With a tight circle of volatile authors in his midst, their every weakness becomes bait to be used against them, while their power-drunk editor assumes an unyielding position of absolute authority. And things fall apart around them.

Corrupted, a serial ebook of aspirations, fame, fortune, sex, shame and scandal, is Omar Tyree’s latest novel, as he uncovers the dark, passionate and sinister side of the American publishing industry. Rated Triple RRR, for Real Raw Reality.

Omar Tyree has published 19 books, including 16 novels. His books have sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. With a degree in Print Journalism from Howard University, Tyree has been recognized as one of the most renown contemporary writers in America. He is also an informed and passionate speaker on community-related topics, urban literacy and entrepreneurship. Hey Mr Tyree!

I finished the Corrupted chapter you sent me last week, I just have not got around to emailing you back. Very good work, already captivated me. Should be very successful and I shall try my best to promote it to my friends in the UK. And what happened to Insanity?

Abbie Pascal -- From The UK

Wow! Okay, a serial book. I like the concept. It will be fun and interesting to watch the book develop. “Darlene” is just a little too naive for 27, in my opinion (lol). But I’m sure that you have more planned for her. I can’t wait to start on July 15th.

I absolutely LOVE this one, Omar! Just finished reading the chapter. It definitely makes me want to read more! Very nice! It's cool when you can read a book or story and feel like it’s real. I love it! I can’t wait to see the drama because I know it exists in the literary world. It was very easy to read and I wasn’t bored at all. Thanks for sharing it with me!

Sincerely,

Brittani Williams, "The JACKIE of All trades" -- From Philadelphia -- Best Selling Author of “Daddy's Little Girl”, “Sugar Walls”, “The Cathouse”, “Black Diamond 1 & 2” and “Cover Girl”

Hey, Omar, I just wanted to let you know that I love your story!!! It's unique, impressive and very exciting.

Dana Reddig -- A magazine feature writer from Chicago

The characters are real. I like the incorporation of the social network Facebook and how “Darlene” met “Antonio” via FB (that is very popular these days & young people will relate to that). Your way with words put images in my mind. I am rooting for “Darlene” and I hope “Brittney” is sincere because I don’t like “Vincent”. Ha, I’m already talking like I know them!!! I also like the idea of you releasing a chapter each week. I wonder what will develop of “Antonio” and “Darlene's” relationship. Will the chemistry be the same when they meet? And is it really like that in the publishing industry???
I have to past the word to my friends - July 15th

Omar,

I received with great interest the first installment of your innovative ebook serial, “Corrupted”.

I read the piece and was fully engaged by the topic and the characters, the action, dialogue and the big laughs you have planted within the montage of scenes.

Your writing remains smart, compelling, witty, insightful and sensual. This tale does indeed signal that “Corrupted” will be a lesson in the inner workings of a mysterious publishing industry. We’ll learn with “Darlene” and experience her pains and joys. And we’ll definitely enjoy the cast of characters you weave into her journey.

As for the marketing strategy, I think it is a real winner. I probably fit one of your target audiences in that I am a writer working on my first book. So, this particular tale would attract me and make following the series feel like a natural move. Like, why not, right? I might learn something, and be entertained all at the same time. “Shit, it don’t get no betta dan dat!” as Pops used to say. And maybe not my Pops, but somebody’s Pops used to say that, I’m sho (LOL)

Seriously, I dig the story thus far and I am pulling for you as always to take this project to the top and then some.

We need innovators in every industry, how else can we grow in new directions and keep industries alive? You are a pioneer. You must see the future, for the present is a bit of a bore to you, I am sure. At any rate, through this new project you stay connected to your roots and your persona -- trailblazer, independent, fearless and extremely, creatively brilliant.

Write on, Omar.

I appreciate the honor of offering you my opinion.

Sincerely,

Edward D. Sargent -- A Technical and Creative Writer in Washington, DC

Too many characters . . . If you want to keep all of the characters I would suggest introducing them at different times throughout the book and not all at once in the first chapter. It’s to overwhelming. I think the reader should get attached to the main character more in the beginning. Maybe a little background on “Darlene” and the Spanish guy, “Antonio.” Then introduce all the others in different chapters. You can take out all the other authors at the party basically . . . Maybe just leave one and just describe the atmosphere . . . And maybe add another party for later on.

Captivating with story line that is as compelling as it is fluid. Great job young bro!

OMAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm already hooked.

I can’t wait to read this. You STAYS one step ahead and I *love* it! You’re ahead of the game and on top of it consistently for the past 20 years! I am never disappointed by your work and am so glad that you once again know how to grow along with your audience and market, especially with this insight into the publishing industry that you have proven your longevity in.

You also give such wisdom, hope and caution to aspiring writers. My shelves are already weighed down with your books and this ebook is instant, guilt-free gratification!

I think the chapter-a-week plan could be a great. It gets your audience back engaged with the Omar Tyree brand and will have them clamoring for more.

This is innovative enough to generate the type of buzz you need for your proper return to the game.As long as it succeeds, it is a plus for you because you can either decide to keep riding the e-book train and publish your own work, or take your new, innovative approach to a publisher.

Rasheed McWilliams -- An attorney and literary agent in California

Omar Tyree is in the enviable position of having carved out his own niche. He has expertly figured out where his skill set fit into this business of writing and publishing and I admire him for that.

Dawn Davis -- Editorial Director, Amistad Books @ HarperCollins in New York City

Speaking of the E-book, I’m on the edge of my seat over here! I relate closely to “Darlene” as far as having a dream in an industry that could possibly rely on WHO you know and not WHAT you know.

The characters, especially “Vincent” has a certain mysterious element about himself. He’s very confident yet brass and seemingly arrogant at times. I can’t yet tell how genuine he is or “Brittney” for that matter, but I’m curious to find out what’s happening next.

I’m very inspired right now by the way. I can’t wait to indulge more into “Corrupted” and find out how fitting the title is to the characters (smile).

Tamika Jean-Louis -- A reader, writer and poet from Houston, Texas

Omar Tyree! You have done it again! This is an amazing idea... I will share with everyone I know. I’m very excited about the literary world changing and you changing the game... Its like bringing the idea of television episodes and mixing it in with the original way to express ideas, and stories... Books! Thank you for sharing and keeping me update on your new enterprises. I really wish that we could have worked something out with having your present your new books and words of encouragement at Norfolk State University a couple of years back. Thank you again!
